Across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) and Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES), inspiring work is taking place at the intersection of arts, culture and health.
 
However, evidence of this impact is often scattered across organisations and projects, limiting its potential to influence policy, commissioning, funding decisions and community health solutions.

We are inviting Creative Health practitioners and organisations to share evidence demonstrating the impact of their work.

What are we looking for?

​

Following guidance from health and community partners into current priority areas in this initial phase we are seeking evidence on creative health projects working with children and Young People (where young people includes adolescents and young adults, around 16 to 25 years of age). This can be any use of the arts to help with health and wellbeing in this population, including, but not limited to:

• Mental health and wellbeing

• Long-term impacts of early interventions

• Family relationships

• Risk of future exclusion

• Poverty and NEET status

• Looked-after children and care leavers

We welcome submissions of:

• Evaluation reports

• Project reports

• Outcome and impact assessments

• Research studies

• Service evaluations

• Monitoring data and findings

• Case studies

• Learning reports

• Evidence of lived experience and participant outcomes

• Other relevant evidence relating to creative health activity

We are also keen to receive evidence that demonstrates the economic value or cost-saving impact of Creative Health interventions on health and care services.

 

What will happen with your submissions?

 

Our aim is to make relevant evidence easier to find, understand and use. 

 

Following submission, evidence will be reviewed and synthesised into accessible evidence summaries using art-based methods. These summaries will be published on a publicly accessible website, creating a valuable resource for commissioners, policymakers, practitioners, community organisations and others working across the arts and health sector.

 

​Please note that we will not share any personal details of participants in the evidence summaries in order to comply with ethical guidelines around confidentiality and anonymity.

Your submission will help:

​

• Build a stronger evidence base for creative health across the region.

• Demonstrate the value and impact of existing work.

• Support conversations with commissioners, policy makers, NHS partners, and local authorities. Identify examples of effective practice and innovation.

• Highlight evidence gaps and priorities for future research and evaluation.

This project is funded by UWE Bristol's Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) Impact Acceleration Account (IAA) Rapid Response Fund 2025-2027.

 

The work is a collaboration between Professor Nicola Holt (UWE Bristol), the West of England Creative Health Network, Bristol City Council Arts Development Team, and CreativeShift.

​Following this initial phase we hope to expand this impact project into further priority areas to help commissioners find and understand easily accessible information about the impact of Creative Health
