Healing Art of Kashmir

The Art of Healing is funded as part of the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) through the Arts and Humanities Research Council’s urgency programme.

This is an interdisciplinary project, led by Dr Michael Buser, and with Dr Nicola Holt, Prof. Julie Mytton and Dr Emma Brannlund as co-investigators. The project is using art therapy and art interventions to help improve the wellbeing of children (10-14) who have experienced conflict in Kashmir. We are using a realist evaluation for this project with a mixed-method approach that is using quantitative observational tools, qualitative and arts-based methods to assess the impact of the intervention. The delivery of the art interventions has been a hybrid of online and face-to-face delivery, in response to the coronavirus pandemic. We are currently nearing the end of the intervention delivery and beginning to investigate the data (May, 2021).
